2003-09-30: Going home
Slept a few hours in my Spanish bed before I spent some time packing my things, all spread out over my room. Had breakfast with Ernesto who told me about the morning’s total chaos. Andy, Mike and Dan almost missed the flight. The truck that was to pick up the gear was awfully late and they all ended up in a diabolic traffic jam. Tony had to call the airline-company and tell them to hold the plane. They made it but it was close. Checked out, said hello to Rosana’s Dad and Fernando who drove our equipment. Made a call home before going with Tony to the airport. A most friendly, Swedish-speaking, airline lady informed us we had way too much overweight but that she was in a good mood. All our stuff could go. Hugged and thanked everyone and went to shop some gifts and liquor. A speaker call sounded, asking for Björn Fryklund to come to the gate. Björn wrestled his way to the counter. Apparently he had vibrating luggage. What? Chris and I joined our drummer. We walked to the plane where I found that it was MY bag they found peculiar. I knew it couldn’t be the dildo, I threw the last one away in Madrid. Had to empty everything on the floor before I found my bloody beard trimmer at the bottom, set on three day Arafat-kind-of-beard, but nothing to trim. I seem to be a Man of Many Vibrations, hrm. The flight was cool. In Copenhagen we did some more shopping before arriving at Landvetter airport outside Gothenburg. At the airport my fiancé and friends Benny, Cornelia and their son Christian were waiting. Björn, Chris and I took care of some freak business and exchanged money. Well at home I got a blindfold before my eyes and was led to the south side entrance of the house. My mother in law and Camilla had spent a serious amount of time constructing, building and painting a new staircase for my birthday. Fabulous women! Hugged my freak brothers who took away in Christer’s car. Benny and Cornelia opened several bottles of Champagne and we all had a glass or two. What a homecoming! Fine people of Spain and France: we love you! You have been so good to us. Your dedication and support is far beyond appreciated. Keep on spreading the freak word. We will be back to play for you as soon as we possibly can. Stay Spanish! Stay French! Stay Freaky! Thank you very much and goodnight. |
