We've also got some nice interpretations on the Snailskull album cover ☻ As a bonus, you can read our interviews!
To celebrate the release of the new album, we decided to make a video for a tune sung in our native language.
Så Kan Det Gå När Inte Haspen Är På (a free translation could be that "shit can happen when you forget to lock the door") is a cool tune that you can share with us in a small room in the video. We even added Swedish captions!
Morons is the first video from Confusion To The Enemy album.
Video was filmed by Oskar Andersson, additional camera work by Fredrik Stenberg. It was shot at Partille Gymnasium, Sweden.
Every summer a bunch of hard core guitarists from around the world disappear into Swedish woods to practice their hearts (and brains and fingers) out for six intense days of guitar shredding. Mattias IA Eklundh is "The Guru" at the camp, teaching his various unique techniques; picking, tapping, harmonics, phrasing, riffs, exotic tonality, finger-picking, reduction, poly-rhythms and odd time stuff.
The camp is held just outside Gothenburg, Sweden, at a place called Härsjösand, located exactly in the middle of nowhere. Many fabulous players have come the camp to play, teach and simply chill out: Kiko Lourerio, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Guthrie Govan, Christophe Godin, Vic Zino from Hardcore Superstar, Stian Carstensen, Niclas Engelin from In Flames and Engel, Panzerballet's Jan Zehrfeldt, Rob Marcello, Andreas Öberg, Mr. Fastfinger, Kee Marcello, Mats/Morgan, Andy James, Dick Lövgren from Meshuggah, Fredrik Åkesson from Opeth, Jonas Hellborg, Angry Loner, Uli Jon Roth, Danny Gill, Per Nilsson from Scar Symmetry, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, Ola Englund and many more.
Freak Guitar Camp is an addictive challenge for a guitarist's physical and mental state! Many campers return year after year, for they always leave the camp strengthened, if somewhat exhausted.
On 6 October 2019 our Maestro and Guitar Guru Mattias IA Eklundh celebrates his 50th birthday!
Check out some hilarious snapshots from his journey:
November 21st, 2018: The greatest drummer on the planet, our own kick-ass Björn Fryklund, has turned 50 years young!
Check out some of the milestones of these brilliant decades:
The brilliant Linus "Mr. Gul" Abrahamson has put together, in the most lo-fi, painstaking of ways, an entire album of Freak Kitchen tunes. Linus possesses a serious knowledge and predilection for old school games and his collection of pixelated treasures is impressively vast. He is also a mighty skilled musician not to say a notation ninja. We take a humble bow and deeply respect the insane efforts. Enjoy!
Together with friend and partner, merchandise veteran Andreas Hansen, we have opened up an online brand store for some cool apparel in freaky style. Our aim is to bring you cool and comfortable stuff while maintaining the ethical, moral and environmental responsibility.
No Bull Stuff (NOBS) clothing is all organic and toxic free, bringing you groovy designs of inspired designers from all over the world.
And don't forget to check out the adventures of Mr Nobs, the irrational stop motion animation hero created by IA! There's a lo-fi reason to see the clothing in full HD while having fun.
The mother of all coffee table books is here and we are very much part of it! Check out Juanjo Guarnido's Freaky Project, written by Miceal Beausang-O' Griafa (foreword by Disney legend Eric Goldberg, afterword by IA), a 158 page colourful treat to drool over with an amazing insight in the passionate and painstaking work of the ground breaking Freak of the Week video.
This is what Cartoon Brew says about Juanjo's work:
Though best known as the award-winning artist of the French comic series Blacksad, Juanjo Guarnido is also a former Disney animator who worked on films like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan and Atlantis. Earlier this year, he raised over $140,000 on Kickstarter to produce “Freak of the Week,” a music video for the Swedish rock band Freak Kitchen. The video premiered online today and it just might be the most classically animated teeth-gnashing and hair-flipping metal you’ve seen in your lifetime.
For more news and updates, please » visit the Juanjo Guarnido in the Freak Kitchen page on Facebook.
We are delighted our amazing brother Juanjo Guarnido and Fortiche Production's incredible animation video continues to floor freaks around the world!
The animated Freak of the Week video was produced by none other than the genius Juanjo Guarnido of Blacksad and Disney fame. A tremendously successful Kickstarter brought in no less than a $140,000 to finance the painstaking, yet rewarding, work of drawing an entire video, frame by frame. We are in extreme gratitude to each and one helping out to make this stunning project come to life!
Want to know the whole story? We are tremendously proud to announce the release of Freak When Spoken To – The Story of Freak Kitchen (Bullet Point Publishing) by Åsa Anastasia Jonsén who spent years and years putting it together, piece by piece.
This is what GoodReads says about it:
Let's put it this way: how many other major rock acts have you heard discussing topics such as infidelity, organ transplant trading, anal bleaching and neo nazism among soccer mums to some of the grooviest metal anthems ever heard? The music is straightforward to the ear, yet infinitely intricate to the mind, borrowing influences from all over the world in a way we haven't heard since the late Frank Zappa roamed the earth. Mattias Eklundh is certainly a driving force, the guitarman and singer who gave a whole new meaning to the expression go your own way. But nothing happens without the entire trinity of Björn, Christer and Mattias on the wagon, and in this massively well researched biography by seasoned Metal Journalist Åsa Jonsén you get to follow the Freak in detail from day one.
Growing your Own Moustache tuition packages are releases from the Freak Guitar Camp vaults: a set of tracks with one version including guitar as IA plays it, and one without, for you to jam to, to "grow your own moustache".

Our fantastic long-time freak buddy Linus Abrahamson has taken the time and effort to write down God Save the Spleen for guitar, both rhythm and lead, in both standard notation as well as tablature. This should not go unnoticed!!
